New With KAHT

Have you seen the new billboard?

KAHT has a billboard along I-75 near Exit 77 in Berea. The billboard was put up in February and is visible day and night to over 25,000 visitors each day. The aim of the billboard is to reach potential Trails visitors, including Kentucky residents planning weekend getaways, families from outside the state on vacation and motorists traveling between winter and summer residences in the North and South, respectively. The billboard contains a short, simple slogan and the KAHT web address.

KAHT at Kentucky Crafted: The Market 2004

KAHT was in full force at the Kentucky Crafted Market held in Louisville, KY February, 26th -29th. We had a booth set up with information about the program and maps showing areas that we are developing for driving tours. We had a computer set up with the web site available for visitors to click on and view the different trails. We also played a new DVD informational video showcasing the KAHT program and several artisans in our region.

KAHT on DVD?

Recently, Ernie Martin of Martin Media produced an 11-minute promotional video for the Kentucky Artisan Heritage Trails. The video features scenery and artisans from each of our participating counties. It is narrated by Belle Jackson from Berea, KY and highlights tourist attractions and artisans in our program. The video was produced in a DVD format and over 100 copies have been sent out to various media, tourism and development groups for viewing. If you have a viewing area in your business and would like a copy of the video for promotional purposes, contact the KAHT office at 859-622-8439.

The Appalachian Regional Commission Visits the Kentucky Artisan Heritage Trails
Ray Daffner, Entrepreneurship Initiative Manager for the ARC, recently made a visit to Eastern Kentucky University. While he was here, he was treated to a guided tour of the Kentucky Artisan Heritage Trails. Because of a tight schedule, he was limited to a few stops. We managed to take him on a tour of Bybee Pottery, Cedar Village Restaurant, Snug Hollow Bed & Breakfast, Churchill Weavers, and the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea. He was thoroughly excited with his visit and said he wants to come back in the summer. We appreciate all of the hospitality KAHT members extended to us on this trip.
