Where We Are

We wanted to update everyone on where we are currently working to create new driving trails for KAHT. We are currently completing the “Fiddlehead Trail” that will span the counties of Floyd, Johnson, Magoffin , Morgan, and Wolfe. This driving loop will begin in Paintsville and follow US 23 to Prestonsburg. There, the loop will follow Route 114 into Salyersville and then take the Mountain Parkway to Route 205 which will lead into West Liberty then take Route 172 through Moon and Crockett and around Paintsville Lake then back into Paintsville.

(above Red River Gorge Trail) The second trail is the “Red River Gorge Trail” that will span the counties of Clark, Montgomery, Menniffee and Powell. It begins in Winchester on I-64 taking it into Mount Sterling. From here it takes Route 460 through Camargo, Jeffersonville, and Frenchburg. Next, it will hook up to Route 77 which will take it into the Red River Gorge. From here it will take route 715 onto the Mountain Parkway which has stops in Slade, Stanton and Clay City then finally connects back to I-64 finishing the loop back in Winchester.

Our final trail to develop for this phase is the Natural Bridge Trail (left and above Natural Bridge Trail). This trail includes the counties of Breathitt, Lee, Menifee, Morgan, Powell and Wolfe. The trail begins in Slade which is home to Natural Bridge State Park from here it will take the Mountain Parkway to Route 715 which will take it into the Red River Gorge region. Next it will hook up to Route 77 and then Route 460 which will take it through Mariba, Wellington and Ezel where it will catch Route 203 into Hazel Green and then Route 191 into Campton. From Campton, the loop will take Route 15 through Bethany and Vancleave and then into Jackson where it will take Route 52 through Oakdale and Helens ending in Beattyville. From Beattyville, it will take Route 11 back up to Slade.

We are very excited about the development of these trails and encourage you to spread the word to other artisans about our progress. If you know of artists in the areas we are developing, please drop us a line and let us know who they are. We look forward to seeing you on the trails!
