Twin Tunnels

The picture of Twin Tunnels

Twin Tunnels is an interesting piece of Morgan County history. Before the age of sophisticated road systems, Wrigley, KY served as on of the largest train depots in Eastern Kentucky. When plans were made to lay the train tracks, the easiest route was straight through a giant rock. Because of the way the creek ran originally, there were two tunnels created. One to re-route the creek below and one above for the train to actually run through. The train age has since come and gone but, the road still runs over part of the original train route including straight through the old tunnel.
